Here's some random pictures from the past month. I had a small meltdown/moment of joy all in one when I realized about 2 weeks ago how big she's getting. I'm shocked when I go to work and deliver a 6lb 10oz baby because she was never that small, was she? I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the newborn stage! However, at the same time I am very excited that our little girl is not going to be a little baby forever.
My mom gave me a book entitled "I Am a Mother" by Jane Clayson Johnson for Mother's Day this year and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is very uplifting and always makes me smile, sometimes cry. In the first chapter, she quotes a poem that goes like this:
I'd rather be a mother than anyone on earth
Bringing up a child or two of unpretentious birth...
I'd rather tuck a little child all safe and sound in bed
Than twine a chain of diamonds about my carefree head.
I'd rather wash a smudgy face with round, bright, baby eyes
Than paint the pageantry of fame or walk among the wise.
-Meredith Gray
I'll admit I cried when I read the part about washing "a smudgy face with round, bright, baby eyes" because I had just fed Alaina some kind of messy orange baby food and wiped her cute face right before reading this poem. I love her big bright eyes, cute smile, big dimples, baby squeals, and all the happiness she brings to me and Rob. We were together for 6 years without her...but what did we ever do? I love being a mother.

Motherhood is so beautiful... even if we don't always look beautiful because of it! And I see you've found one more hat for Alaina. :)
That is a really good poem. And, as always, I love the pics!
Thanx for the reminder of what motherhood is - sometimes we forget to appreciated the little things. CUTE BACKGROUND
I love the Cheerios box hat!!!
Finding ourselves missing the newborn stage is just falling into The Lords dirty little plan to get us to have another. We forget 12 diapers 12 feedings and 3 outfit changes a day and reflect on soft smell good skin, light as a loaf of bread and insanly proud that they are OURS as onlookers ooo and ahhh at the sweet new babe.
